Forum on the output of the Project held in Portlaoise on THurs 25th June 2015
Timetable
The Forum commenced at 2.30. It was chaired by Paul Roe, who is a musician, a music teacher and a coach. He gave us a presentation on his view of coaching and what contribution it can make to the lives of musicians.
Tony Bardon made a presentation on the purpose of the Self-Coaching Toolbox. He explained the difficulties that are faced by many musicians in developing a sustainable career and how the Toolbox could help them in determining which skills they should focus on in order to ensure a better outcome. This involved the harnessing of coaching principles and he illustrated this by two shorts coaching sessions with Fergus Mackay and Shane O’Fearghail. There was a lively degree of interest from the audience.
After the forum we had a reception and an opportunity to listen to performers from the project and the Laois School of Music. It was then off to the local Indian restaurant for an enjoyable meal before returning to Tallaght.
